Hi friends, here I will show how to draw with oil painting. Oil painting has enormous use in art world. You can work very smoothly with it; it will give you a very soft effect in your painting and also a realistic effect.
Who is greater? The man or the nature? -Is it the force of the nature that drives a man or the force of his will? – What is greatness? Challenging the omnipotent or wisely making use of the power that the almighty has to offer?
Nature is the all-powerful. Challenging its authority is mere foolishness. Human has the potent to achieve everything he can dream of and has succeeded in many ways in that aspect. However, true greatness lies in friendship. Man has to cooperate with nature and be not so proud to challenge it. The conjoined force of man’s will and the nature brings true greatness. I tried to express this thought through my depiction of a surfer who is surfing a gigantic wave.
Drawing wave is generally tough. But if you know the right steps and technique how to use colors and the detailing it will be easy enough. Here I have drawn an easy painting for beginners.
TOOLS: I used different types of brushes here such as flat brush No. 2, 4, 8, and 12 and round brush No. 0 and a flat 2 inch brush. The colors I used here acrylic colors-celestial blue, ultramarine light blue and oil colors-Prussian blue, flake white, cadmium red, burnt sienna and orange.
Canvas size: 21” x 14”
STEP 1: First arrange a 21”x14” and paint it fully with blue acrylic color. It will support your picture to have a sea effect. Then use celestial blue in the center for the light effect.
STEP 2: As we all know after lights comes the shadow part. Now use deep blue for shadow. Use the brush to make arcs in the see to make the proper wavy shape. Then little more deep to make more shadows. You have to have idea of light and dark as I always say. Use combination of light blue and the dark Prussian blue.
STEP 3: Then put white and blue in the upper are of the lighted part. Then mix it with another soft brush to have a cloudy shape and use the brush as an arc shape. Then entering the light to the inner part of the wave use some white for the light effect.
STEP 4: Then for more details add a mix-up of white, blue (less blue) and very light red in a in the part where we made the cloudy shape in the step 3. And then to make the see obvious draw a surfer but a small one with colors of your choice but with deep color.
STEP 5: I move on to the foam. I am using mix of blue and white and applying them with small strokes. Then I blend them well. Again, you can see that, even they are blended; some bits are more white than the others are. I use somewhat rounded strokes to create the frothy effect. Then I paint a bit of surf where I am going place the surfer. Then I blend the darker section with a big brush and add some streaks of dark blue for detailing. I add some precision to the foam. Then I start painting the surfer.I use a small brush to paint the surfer. Lastly, I do the final touches. Using white with a small brush, here use more detail with white in the center where we made the light coming in. And lastly use the white in the falling are of the water very carefully.
